The Equipment and Facilities Manager is a very important position at Maitri Farm with direct responsibilities for the maintenance and repair of all farm vehicles, equipment and facilities.
In addition to being the lead mechanic and handy man, the equipment and facilities manager also plays a role in field production activities, especially during the April-November growing season.
This position reports directly to the Farm Manager and Flower Farmer and co-manages crew along with the Field Production Manager.
Following are the primary responsibilities of this position:
Equipment and Vehicles maintain and repair as needed all farm vehicles, tractors, implements, and other production equipment troubleshoot equipment issues in the field source new equipment as needed maintain shop workspace including daily cleaning, organization and managing inventory of shop supplies maintain service logs for all work done manage vendor relationships as well as oversight of vendors performing onsite and offsite services for the farm respond to emergency issues with vehicles and equipment as needed Facilities maintain and repair as needed all farm facilities including packing house, greenhouses, farm store, grounds, maintenance garage, and various storage buildings coordinate new building projects including high tunnels, greenhouses, and other farm buildings respond to emergency issues with facilities as needed Management co-manage Field Production Assistants along with Field Production Manager participate in weekly farm operations meetings track equipment inventory and budget for new equipment as needed develop and maintain equipment and facilities budget Field Production Respond to equipment issues in the field Operate field equipment in support of field production crew Requirements Minimum two years tractor experience on a farm, ranch, or construction site Minimum two years mechanic experience For this position valid current driver's license is required Carpentry, forestry, electrical, or construction experience a bonus Hours, schedule, and compensation April-November:
average 55 hours/week with ramp up and down on both ends of the main growing season; typical schedule M-F, 5:
30am-4:
30 pm with occasional weekend hours December-March:
